Cambodia Gambling Halls

[ English ]

There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where casino gaming is prohibited. Eight casinos are established in a relatively tiny space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime spot, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income acquired from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; still, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 17:00, and even though visas are supposedly required to cross, there are ways around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that contains numerous amenities in addition to the gambling hall, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slots and 88 table games.
